About Erik

With over 30 years in public education, Erik has been driven to fundamentally change the narrative of secondary education.  As a high school teacher, principal, district administrator, and network facilitator, he has focused on redesigning the high school experience, supporting transformational learning for underrepresented populations.

He founded Erik Rice Consulting to help schools, districts, networks, and similar organizations design and implement a path toward transformative experiences and deeper learning for all youth they serve.

Erik earned his B.A. in African American and African Studies from the University of Michigan and his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Mills College in Oakland, California. He holds both Teaching and Administrative Credentials.

Erik lives in San Francisco with his wife. Their two kids are now young adults, pursuing their own passions in college. Erik loves the outdoors — hiking, biking, or spending time at a creek — and maintains a daily meditation practice.
